Happy Birthday Aislin!

It’s official – Aislin is now one year old. She is walking, talking a little, and (finally) enjoying daycare. We were so excited about her birthday, that we celebrated twice. Once with Nana, Papa, Uncle Chris and Auntie Josie during Thanksgiving, and again on her actual birthday with the rest of the family. Here are a few of the party highlights.

Fall Update

Sorry it’s been so long since we posted. Life has been very busy these past few months. Eoghan turned 4, Lisa went back to work, Aislin started at Little Wings, learned how to walk, and turned 1. I will add a few posts to bring you all up to speed.

Summer Fun

Hello,

The weather has been fantastic, and we have been having non-stop fun all summer. I am now 9 months old and weigh about 20 lbs. I have lots of new tricks – standing while holding onto something, walking with Mom or Dad holding my hands, waving hello and bye, clapping my hands, and signing for milk and more (of whatever I want!). Sometimes, I will even say ” Uh oh”, while dropping things from my high-chair, a game I really enjoy. I sort of say Mama and Dada, it comes out like “ah mamama” and “aDaaaaDaaaa”.

Here are some recent photos of all the fun we have been having:

So proud of myself!

Hello everyone,

Last week we went to the Okanagan to visit my Nana and Papa. We went camping at Link Lake, and had a really great time. Here are some of the highlights. Be sure to check back in the future – Link Lake, the movie, is still in editing, but will be posted soon.

Manning Park

First fishing trip

We didn’t catch anything, but we sure had fun.

Camping cousins

Aislin and Nana wish the fishers well from shore.

Finding treasures on a nature walk.

Mmm, marshmallows.

Finally,

a chance to wear this fabulous sun hat!

My brother and I are so happy the weather is starting to get better. The photo above was taken at the City of Richmond’s Open House. It was pretty fun – my brother really enjoyed sitting in all the trucks, especially one …

I wanna drive the zamboni

We have also been playing outside more. Here Eoghan is getting a wagon ride from his pal Katherine.

I am doing really well. I can now roll both ways, I have the whole sitting thing down pat, and really enjoy standing. I still dislike being on my stomach, and I think the whole crawling thing is kinda beneath me, so I am thinking I will skip it and go straight to walking. I am also eating lots of solid food. Just a suggestion for the other babies out there who may be reading, if you over do it a bit on solids, I highly recommend …

PRUNES! They are tasty, high in iron, and an excellent remedy for too much rice cereal, if you know what I mean.

My brother and I also recently checked out a cool new park in Richmond, which was designed by an expert at UBC. The same man actually designed the playground at Little Wings Daycare, where Eoghan goes (and I will be be going in the fall). Anyway, the park is really cool, it has lots of natural features, like a stream with a water pump and a dam, monkey bars made of driftwood, and a cool slide that comes out of a crow’s nest on a boat. Eoghan’s pal Lucas, who as a public service is doing a review of parks, should definately check it out.

Busy, busy, busy

Sorry to take so long to post – life has been very busy! I am now seven months old, and weigh about 17 lbs. At my six month check-up I was still in the 95th percentile for length and head circumference, and 75th for weight. I am eating more and more solid foods, and am a much happier girl, now that mommy has finally figured out that when she eats dairy, I get cranky. The problem now is that without cheese, mommy gets a little cranky.

Below are some photos from all our adventures over the past month or so.

Here I am eating some cereal.

Here I am with Grandma at Auntie Karen’s house. Just a bit of family resemblance.

My brother is doing really well too. He is always busy, so he is very entertaining.

Just chillin’

Getting his face painted at the Children’s Festival yesterday. I thought he made a pretty scary tiger.

Here he is at the Children’s Festival, watching one of his favourite music groups, Bobs and Lolo.

Nana, who correctly guessed first which baby was which. Pretty much everyone got it right, so I guess we don’t actually look all that much alike. Grandpa gets kudos for going against the crowd.

I also want to welcome baby Madeleine to the world. She is the first (human) child for Mommy’s friends Anna and Nick. Madeleine’s doggie, Mr. Burns, keeps a blog, and has been writing about his new baby sister. I have added her to the friends list on the right, if you want to check it out.

I am now five and a half months old. My favourite things include watching my brother do anything, playing with my toes, and petting my kitty-cat Hamish. My eyes are changing colour, and look kinda cool right now – the middle of the iris is hazel green like mommy’s, and the outside rim is still newborn baby blue.

I have also been practicing sitting and standing.

Look, no hands

Happy EasterI hope you all had a great Easter – we sure did. Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie D, Jacob, Marcus, and Hayley came over for Easter dinner. Auntie D brought me this Easter Bunny, which I enjoy chewing. Actually, I enjoy chewing anything these days since I am teething. So far, I am not enjoying the brief forays into solid foods which mommy has taken me on.

Although it’s spring already, it has still been rather windy at our place. Below is a picture of Eoghan playing on all the driftwood that washed up on the dyke after a recent storm.

Eoghan and I have started taking swimming lessons. I promise to post a photo soon of me in my super cute swimsuit. Talk to you all soon.

Who’s that baby?

Many people have told us that Eoghan and Aislin look alike. To see how much that may be true, I thought it would be fun to test our blog visitors. Below are two photos, one of each of them. Can you guess who is who? Post your guess in a comment below.
